Surrey Celebration Match vs Bowls England President’s Team

11.7.24 – This afternoon Rosalind and Neil represented the club in an afternoon of bowls celebrating Surrey clubs holding anniversaries in 2024. With Wimbledon Park turning 115 years old this year, we were joined by other clubs ranging from 50 years to 120 years in age. During the afternoon, which was hosted by Cranleigh BC, WPBC were joined by two of the Croydon bowlers to make up a rink. Each rink played three games of six ends against representatives from other Surrey clubs, along with teams made up from past Bowls England Presidents and Surrey Women’s Past Presidents. In the first game against BE Past Presidents we lost 1 – 8, in the second game against one of the other Surrey clubs we won five of the six ends, but dropped a count of 5 to end up all square at 5 – 5. In the final game against Surrey Past Presidents we again managed a draw 7 – 7.
