The Annual Match Between the Ladies and the Men

11.8.24 – This afternoon we had the annual match between the Ladies and the Men. With some club members taking the ‘please wear bright colours, if you are feeling brave,’ to the extreme, the afternoon was set to be one of fun and that is exactly what it turned out to be. With the Ladies having 13 players available and the Men having 11, the afternoon started with two rinks, drawn by captains Claire and Neil, playing over 6 ends. In close games both teams on both rinks won three ends, but it was the Men who ended up with two wins, 9 – 4 and 5 – 4. Three triples followed after a short refreshment break, again played over 6 ends and once again the games were close, with the Men just edging them 4 – 3, 5 – 3 and 10 – 5. Following a longer refreshment break five pairs games followed, with the Ladies winning two and the Men winning three. Overall a terrific afternoon of fun and great bowling which saw the Men retain the Memorial Cup 8 – 2, but which saw the club as the real winners, with great camaraderie, encouragement, enthusiasm and an abundance of cake!
