Club Handicap Pairs

8.6.25 – This afternoon we had the Club Handicap Pairs competition. Each pair was drawn with a high handicap bowler being paired with a low handicap bowler; each bowler having 2 bowls. During the afternoon each of the 8 pairs played three 6-end round-robin games with the top two pairs in each group going through to the semi-finals. The semi-final winners would then head to the final, in September.

With some high quality bowling and great banter throughout the afternoon, Matt E and Vera, just a few weeks after joining the club, won their group, with Elaine and Richard F as runners-up on shot difference. In the other group, Mark and Neil came through as group winners, with Paul and Barry as runners-up. In the semi-finals, Matt E and Vera booked their place in the final, edging out Barry and Paul 10 – 5, whilst Mark and Neil picked up two shots on the last end to secure their place in the final, squeezing through past Elaine and Richard F 7 – 6. A huge thank you to Richard F for organising the afternoon, to all of the players for making the afternoon so successful, with special thanks to Elaine for stepping in at short notice to allow the competition to go ahead as it had been organised.
