Not One, But Two District 1/4 – Finals

23.7.25 – This evening we had not one, but two district competitions take place. In Wimbledon Park Sue F and Caroline took on Mitcham in the ¼ – final of the Ladies’ Pairs. In a close contest both teams won 9 ends and despite dropping a count of 6 on the 8^th end, to go 8 – 12 down, a strong fight back over the last three ends saw WPBC come back to within one shot of their opponents. The final result saw Mitcham go through to the semi-final with a 19 – 18 win. Up at South London, Jackie and Neil played the 1/4 – final of the District Mixed Pairs. Another tight match saw WPBC just ahead 8 – 5 after 9 ends. The second half continued to be close, but Jackie and Neil managed to get some crucial bowls in to edge further ahead going on to win 16 – 7 and to book the club’s 5^th place in the district semi-finals.
