This morning, Neil played Epsom Park in the Surrey Semi-Final of the National Over-55 Men’s Singles. In a close fought contest, Neil found himself 6 - 10 down after 12 ends, before drawing his way back to lead 13 - 10. Dropping a four on the next end did not help, but further careful drawing secured Neil the win by 21 - 15.

This morning Neil was over at Croydon as Surrey took on Buckinghamshire in the opening match of the 2021 Home Counties League. In a revised format, the match was a straight knockout and, despite his rink losing 16 - 24, Surrey won the match 120 - 106 to secure their place in next months semi-final.

This evening over at Raynes Park, Neil continued the defence of his Wimbledon and District Men’s Singles. Starting well, Neil opened up an 8 - 3 lead after 8 ends, before his opponent dug in to level at 8 - 8. This evening Barry and Neil were at Epsom BC in the Surrey Men’s Pairs Quarter-Final. Up against two of Surrey’s top juniors, Barry and Neil were the more consistent in their drawing. This morning Neil welcomed Temple for the Surrey Men’s 2 Wood Area Final. In a close game, Neil’s opponent started strongly with four singles, before Neil got ahead 7 - 4. Back came Temple to lead 9 - 7, before there were further close exchanges through to the last end. Final result, a worthy win for Temple 14 - 13.

This evening Sara and Neil played South London in the Wimbledon and District Mixed Pairs. A strong start saw WPBC open up a 14 - 5 lead after 10 ends. 5 ends later and with more accurate drawing the lead had increased to 24 - 7. A late rally from South London saw them close the gap to 25 - 19, with Sara and Neil through to the quarter-final.

This evening Barry and Neil were up at Heathfield for the Surrey Men’s Pairs. Starting well, Wimbledon Park led 7 - 1 after 4 ends and 14 - 2 after 10 ends. This evening, over at Belmont, Barry, Richard S and Neil played the Area Final of the Surrey Men’s Triples. In a close game, WPBC led 7 - 6 at 9 ends before their opponents pulled ahead to lead 12 - 7. The last few ends were edged by Wimbledon Park, but it proved not to be quite enough as Belmont advanced to the Quarter-Final with a 14 - 10 win.

This afternoon Neil welcomed Temple to the green for the Surrey 2 Wood Singles. After close early exchanges, Neil opened up a lead which he managed to hold on to, going on to win 16 - 11. We now have representatives in the Area Finals of the Surrey Men’s 2 Wood Singles, Men’s Pairs and Men’s Triples.
