A Busy Evening For Wimbledon Park Bowlers

28.6.19 – This evening members were involved in three competitions. Up at South London Neil was playing for a place in the Area Final of the Surrey Men’s Singles. Getting off to a great start Neil led 9 – 2 after 5 ends. 10 ends later and his opponent had found his rhythm and taken the lead himself 12 – 11. Continuing to bowl more consistently than Neil and playing some telling last bowls, another 10 ends later and it was all over with South London making the Area Final 21 – 15.

Back at Wimbledon Park, Sabrina and Martin played Belmont in the opening round of the District Mixed Pairs. Picking up a 5 on the opening end was a sign of things to come and after 10 ends Wimbledon Park led 24 – 2. Despite closing the gap to 26 – 10 after 16 ends, hands were shaken with Wimbledon Park going through to the next round with a 30 – 10 win.

Over at Belmont Luke and George played the first round of the District Men’s Pairs. Wimbledon Park didn’t get off to the best of starts when George arrived with only 2 bowls for the 4 bowl pairs! This time it was Belmont who got off to a strong start leading 13 – 3 after 10 ends. Bowling on an end rink, which they found tough going, Wimbledon Park shook hands after 19 ends with the score at 10 – 22.
