A Close Call in the District Champion of Champions

24.7.24 – This evening Neil stayed on at South London to play the quarter-final of the District Champion of Champions competition. In what turned out to be a bit of a rollercoaster, Neil trailed 1 – 5 after four ends, before going on to lead 11 – 5 five ends later. South London then closed the gap to 9 – 12, before Neil took control to lead 19 – 10. South London then upped their game to level five ends later at 19 – 19 and, on the next end, edged Neil’s shot bowl out to hold game. A weighted final bowl from Neil took the jack clean to the back for a single and on the next end Neil got across the line to win a very close game 21 – 19, booking the club’s 5th semi-final spot.
