Club 2 Wood Competition

21.7.24 – This afternoon 16 bowlers took to the green, to compete in the Qualifying Rounds of The Club Two Wood Competition, having been drawn into 4 groups; BLUE – Jay, Richard S, Alison and Peter, RED – Richard F, Neil, Rosalind and Sue F, ORANGE – Bob Anita, Gail and Mark and GREEN – Luke, William, Caroline and Martin, where they would each play 3 games of six ends.

Once everybody had played all of the other members of their group(s) we ended up with four unbeaten bowlers; Richard S, Neil, Mark and Martin, who progressed to the Semi-Finals, which consisted of eight ends.

Semi-Final 1 saw Martin and Richard S both winning 4 ends each.  However from 4 – 4 at six ends Martin managed two singles to win 6 – 4.  The second Semi-Final also saw both bowlers winning 4 ends each, with Mark getting off to a great start, being 5 – 1 up after 4 ends. Neil then fought back to lead 7 – 5 after 7 ends, with Mark scoring two shots on the last end to tie the match at 7 – 7, with an extra end then being required.  After a very tight measure Mark was declared the winner and he will go on to play Martin, in the Final, at Finals Weekend.
