District Top 10 Away at Southey

19.7.24 – This evening we travelled over to Southey for the District Top 10. In the competition a singles, pairs, triples and fours match is played with the winning team being the team with the greater number of shots overall. The singles was a tight match, with both players drawing consistently well and on no end were more than two shots scored. At the end of the game Southey had won, beating Martin 21 – 8. In the pairs, Sue F and Neil got off to a great start leading 9 – 1 after five ends. Unfortunately two counts of 5 brought Southey right back into the game and they took a close match 21 – 17. The triples featuring Caroline, Richard F and Pete saw us lead 13 – 4 after 8 ends, with further high quality bowling seeing us to a 20 – 10 win. The fours led 6 – 0  after 3 ends and Mark, Rosalind, Matt and Claire T still had their noses in front at 10 – 9 after 9 ends. Once again though, Southey came back strongly going on to win 24 – 17. The final result was a win for Southey 76 shots to 62. Congratulations to all the players who played so well and also to Dez for his support over at Southey.
