District Top 10 Semi-Final v Mitcham

28.8.25 – This evening, up at South London, we took on Mitcham in the semi-final of the District Top 10 competition. In the Singles Neil had a close start but managed to pull away to lead 19 – 10 before his opponent took three consecutive counts of three to level the match. A two on the last end saw Neil just take the game 21 – 19. In the Pairs Sue F and Pete started well but the Mitcham skip managed to change the heads and then Mitcham built up a 16 – 8 lead after 13 ends. Not to be outdone WPBC battled back to level at 16 – 16 with one end to go, but Mitcham edged the last end to win 18 – 16. In the Triples Caroline, Richard S and Martin were 6 – 13 down after 12 ends, but picking up a 3 and a 5 on the next two ends took them into the lead and they held on to win a close match 17 – 16. In the Fours Claire T, Mark, Vera and Barry dominated the game, limiting Mitcham to only winning three ends and posting a 30 – 8 win. Overall score 84 – 61 and the club’s 5^th place in the District Finals was secured.
