League Match Away at South London

Sunday afternoon’s match was away at South London and it turned out to be another amazingly close game. Caroline, Nick, Richard F and Martin were 6 – 8 down after 9 ends, but rallied to edge ahead 14 – 11 with 3 ends left to play. With WPBC going to the last end 15 – 14 ahead, South London managed to edge the game by picking up a count of 2 to win 16 – 15. Jackie, Rosalind, Anne and Vera also had a close game leading 9 – 6 after 9 ends and pulling away to lead 12 – 6 after 12 ends. With South London mounting a come back the scores were level at 13 – 13 after 16 ends. Unfortunately the final two ends went to South London who took the game 15 – 13. Last to finish were Jay, Bob, Mark and Neil. In another close game Wimbledon Park picked up a 5 on the 9th end to take the lead 8 – 7. South London were back in the lead four ends later at 11 – 9, before a change of mat position saw Wimbledon Park win four of the remaining five ends to win 18 – 12. Match result 6 – 4 (46 shots to 43).
