A Strong Showing in Our Latest League Match
28.7.18 – This afternoon we headed to South London who were sitting in 3rd place in the league. With only ten players available, we faced the prospect of the two triples having to lose 25% of their scores, making a tough prospect even tougher. What a response from the bowlers though! Anne, Luke and Barry were 3 – 9 down at 6 ends, but went on to win 13 of the 21 ends to finish with a scorecard of 21 – 19, unfortunately adjusted to leave the result at 16 – 19. Maggie, Pete and Martin got away to a great start leading 12 – 2 after 8 ends. The second half saw South London close the gap to finish three shots behind with WPBC winning 20 – 17. Once again the adjustment made a big difference leaving us with a 15 – 17 defeat. Claire, Ange, Ossie and Neil had a close game throughout, with neither side leading by more than 3 shots at any time during the game. After 20 ends the scores were locked at 14 – 14. With the final end going to South London, who took a single, the match concluded with the result a loss, 0 – 10 (45 shots to 51). Thanks to Ange, Anne and Barry for helping to clear the green after the bowls party had finished.
