An Amazing Evening in the District Top 10 Semi-final

7.9.18 – This evening Wimbledon Park took on Heathfield in the semi-final of the District Top 10 competition. Up at Heathfield, Neil was first to finish in the Singles with a 21-9 win. Claire, Steve, Ossie and Martin were up against a tough four from Heathfield, but a strong start saw them lead 6 – 0 after 5 ends. By end 12 Heathfield had levelled at 9 – 9. Over the final 9 ends the lead changed hands 5 times before WPBC secured the win by 18 – 16.

Back at Wimbledon Park there was another close encounter in the Triples where Derek, Vernon and Pete were 4 shots behind at 13 – 17 with 13 ends played. A final push saw them take 6 shots without reply to end with a 19 – 17 win. In the Pairs, Sabrina and Barry were 9 – 16 down after 12 ends. Battling hard to keep the scores close, a count of 2 and 1 on the final two ends were enough to keep the gap to 11 shots at 15 – 26, resulting in a five shot win overall, 73 shots to 68.
