End-of-Season, One-Day, Round-Robin Competition

24.9.23 – This afternoon 22 players, split into two groups, took part in the last competition of the season. 3 points were awarded for a win,  2 for a draw and 1 for a loss. At the end of the group stages, in which each player played four 6-end games of two-wood singles, the Red Group was won by Barry with 12 points, followed by four players all with 10 points. The Runners-Up place was decided on shots scored which saw Claire T on 26 shots, just ahead of Sabrina (24), Caroline (22) and Dez (21).

In the Blue Group, Martin and Neil each had 12 points, closely followed by William (10) and Anne (9). Shots scored saw Martin and Neil both on 26. Shots difference gave Martin the group win on +19 ahead of Neil +18.

The Semi-finals were both very close games, with Martin turning around a 0 – 5 score line to tie the game at 5 – 5, before going on to take the extra end against Claire T. In their Semi-final, Barry and Neil came to the last end at 3 – 3, before Barry’s final bowl cut across the green only to catch Neil’s bowl to promote it for shot. In the final there was nothing to separate Martin and Neil and they came to the last end level at 4 – 4 before Neil just edged the end and with it the Challoner Cup.
