First Away League Match of 2017

July 1st – This afternoon Wimbledon Park took to the road for the first away fixture of the season. Playing at Streatham Park, on what turned out to be rather a quick green, had its challenges. George, Rosalind, Pete and Martin found themselves on the receiving end early on trailing 6 – 16 after 12 ends. Amazingly a 6 and a 3 on ends 16 and 17 brought the scores level before Wimbledon Park went on to win the game 23 – 20. Luke, Ange, Ossie and Neil were 4 – 17 down after 9 ends, before winning the next 5 ends to trail by one shot 16 – 17. Advantage over the closing ends went to Streatham Park who won 23 – 19. Anne, Sabrina, Vernon and Barry managed to keep the score close until the 12th end with the score at 11 – 13. Unfortunately for Wimbledon Park the second half belonged to the home side who went on to win 28 – 13. Match result 2 – 8 (55 shots to 71).
