24.5.19 – This evening’s Area Final of the Surrey Over-55 Men’s Fours took place at Magdalen Park with Barry, Pete, Martin and Neil being drawn against Heathfield. With the match all square at 7 – 7 after 8 ends, Heathfield stepped things up a gear, winning 5 of the next 6 ends to lead 16 – 8 with 5 ends to play. With the match seeming to slip away things turned on the 14th end when Wimbledon Park put together scores of 5, 3 and 3 to lead by 3 with two ends to play. Dropping a 2 on the penultimate end led to a tense final end which WPBC managed to win taking a count of 2 to book their place in the Surrey Quarter-Final with a 21 – 18 victory.
