Ladies’ One-Day Round-Robin Competition

On a sultry Sunday afternoon 14, yes 14, ladies took to the green to battle it out for the Ladies Round Robin.

Bowlers were placed into random groups of 3 or 4, with 3 bowls each, to play 3 matches of 6 ends, with scores only being recorded on individual scorecards. As a result of which, nobody had any idea where they were placed, after 18 ends.

Qualifying for the four person final were Jackie, 76 pts, Claire 69 pts, and Caroline and Vera, both on 55 Pts, who all went forward to a Final where the furthest bowl from the jack, on each end, was taken off the rink.

The final reached an abrupt end, after the delivery of a fantastically wild jack, with two bowls finding their way out of the rink and Jackie having the closest out of the only two remaining legal bowls and, as a result, becoming the winner.
