Ladies’ One-Day Round-Robin Competition
6.7.25 – This afternoon, despite an unfortunate late withdrawal, which meant a complete change of format, 7 bowlers took to the green to take part in The Ladies Round Robin Competition, where each bowler played 5 ends against 4 other bowlers. Instead of a starting pistol, two massive cracks of thunder signified the start of the competition and two of the three Round 1 matches had to be abandoned for 10 minutes, with one end left to play, after the heavens opened. After resuming the competition Sue F won all of her matches and qualified for the Final, with 12 Points, with four bowlers left tied in second place with 8 Points. On shots scored, two bowlers were eliminated having scored 14 and 13 shots each, which still left two bowlers with 15 shots. As a result Gail squeezed into the Final with a shot difference of +5, as opposed to Jackies +3. Sue F won the Final 5 – 1 and both bowlers just about managed to get off of the green before the next downpour took place. Many thanks to Richard F for organising the afternoon.
