Latest League Result

July 22nd – This afternoon, on what turned out to be a dull and wet one, we visited Merton BC for our latest league fixture. With both sides agreeing to play 15 ends per rink, to avoid a prolonged soaking, a close match ensued. Wimbledon Park started well enough and after 9 ends Claire, Ange, George and Barry were tied at 9 – 9, Mary, Betty, Ossie and Martin were 5 – 6 down and Maggie, Rosalind, Hector and Neil were 7 – 5 up. Unfortunately for WPBC, Merton came on strongly over the final six ends with Barry’s rink losing 9 – 20. Martin drew shot with his final bowl when 3 down to win 12 – 9 and Neil dropped a two on the last end to lose 11 – 13. Match result 2 – 8 (32 shots to 42).
