Oh What a Close League Match!

July 23rd – this afternoon Wimbledon Park travelled to Merton BC for their latest league match. First to finish were Cherry, Ange, Hector and Martin who opened up a 10 – 4 lead at 10 ends, which they extended to 16 – 8 at 18 ends, before Merton narrowed the gap to leave WPBC the victors 17 – 12. Second to finish were Anne, Betty, Ossie and Vernon who found themselves 1 – 9 down at 6 ends, before levelling the scores at 9 – 9 four ends later. The second half however saw Merton edge ahead leaving WPBC 17 – 22 at the end. The final game to end saw Rosalind, Matthew, Sabrina and Neil in a tight tussle with the lead changing five times during the first 10 ends. Merton took control in the second half with some great drawn bowls played by the skip and the game ended 22 – 24. Match result 2 – 8 (56 shots to 58). Congratulations to Matthew on making such a tremendous league debut!
