Ouch! Not Once But Twice…

July 25th – this evening over at Raynes Park, Derek played for a place in the quarter-final of the District Over 60s Men’s Singles. With home advantage to the fore, bowling on a testing rink, Derek found the going tough and it was his opponent who took the game. Over at Wandilea, Sabrina and Barry were playing for a semi-final place in the Mixed Pairs. After a strong start WPBC led 15 – 7 after 14 ends and were 16 – 12 up with three ends to play. A heavy bowl played by the Wandilea skip took out the two closest Wimbledon Park bowls on end 19, resulting in a count of seven to Wandilea! The final two ends were shared, a shot to each team, leaving Wandilea the victors by 21 shots to 16.
