Surrey Unbadged Singles Final – Oh So Close!

This afternoon saw Jonathan play the Surrey Unbadged Singles Final at Croydon against Horley. After a strong start which saw Jonathan lead 8 – 2, his opponent rallied winning the next seven ends to leave Jonathan 8 – 11 behind. Further tidy bowling from both players saw Jonathan 20 – 14 ahead and holding all four shots when his opponent snuck in with his final bowl to save the match; a few ends later and the game was level at 20 – 20. With Jonathan’s first bowl he knocked his opponent right on to the jack but managed to knock him off with his third bowl. With his opponent having bowled all of his bowls Jonathan was still one shot down but managed to draw the shot with his final bowl to win the 28 end marathon game and with it the Surrey title! A big THANK YOU to Barry, Cherry and Martin, who spent a wet Sunday cheering Jonathan on, along with those who sent their good wishes before the match began.
