Tough Away Game in the League

July 15th – This afternoon we travelled to last year’s league champions Mitcham for our latest league fixture. George, Rosalind, Vernon and Martin started well, leading 8 – 5 after 8 ends. Unfortunately for Wimbledon Park, dropping a 5 on the 11th end was the turning point as Mitcham took control, going on to win 27 – 14. Anne, Betty, Sabrina and Barry also found the going tough and 4 – 14 after 11 ends finished 9 – 24. Mary, Ange, Ossie and Neil led 9 – 3 after 8 ends, but 4 ends later were 9 – 11 down. The second half belonged to Mitcham who edged ahead to win 22 – 17. Match result 0 – 10 (40 shots to 73).
