Win in the Weekend League

June 25th – This afternoon we welcomed South London to Wimbledon Park for the 5th league match of the year. Hector, Ange, George and Vernon began well and were 7 – 0 ahead after 4 ends, a lead which they kept until the 18th end when their opponents levelled at 13 – 13. The next two ends went to South London leaving Wimbledon Park needing three shots on the final end to gain a tie. With one bowl left to play WPBC held 4 shots, only for the S London skip to draw second bowl leaving WPBC two shots adrift 14 – 16. Alison, Betty, Anne and Neil led 5 – 0 after 3 ends, a lead which despite South London coming back to within 2 shots after 19 ends, was maintained to give WPBC a win 18 – 16. Claire, Maggie, Sabrina and Barry were 12 – 0 ahead after 7 ends. Winning 15 of the 21 ends, Wimbledon Park ended the game with a 30 – 13 win. Match result 8 – 0 (62 shots to 45).
