Day 1 of The District Finals
13.9.25 – The Mixed Fours started the first full day of the District Finals. Anne, Claire T, Martin and Neil were up against a tough Southey side and very much came off second best losing 7 – 20.
Session 2 saw Barry and Neil take on Wandilea in the Men’s Pairs. A strong start from WPBC, saw them open up a 14 – 2 lead at seven ends, which was enough for their opponents who, with their skip feeling decidedly under the weather, shook hands and conceded the game.
The last session saw Matt D, Barry and Neil play Heathfield in the Men’s Triples. After some high quality drawing from each of the WPBC team they led 20 – 3 after 9 ends, which sparked a recovery from Heathfield who won the next four ends to close the gap to 20 – 10. The remaining ends played all went to Wimbledon Park who went on to take the title 31 – 10. Many thanks to Jackie, Richard F, Richard S and Rosalind for their support at Belmont. Back in Wimbledon Park there were 7 club members down at the taster session.
