League Match v Heathfield

On Sunday afternoon we had our first away league match of 2026 as we travelled to Heathfield to play last year’s league champions. Caroline, Richard F, Claire T and Martin were on the receiving end early on and were 0 – 11 down after 4 ends. Winning 9 of the remaining 14 ends saw them fight back strongly, narrowing the gap to just 3 shots with the final score at 16 – 19. A strong start for Mark, Jay, Vera and Barry saw them lead 8 – 3 after 4 ends, before Heathfied rallied, going on to edge WPBC out with the score once again ending at 16 – 19. Gail, Bob, Anne and Neil also found the opposition tough going early on and were 0 – 9 down after 4 ends. A strong finish from WPBC saw them take the lead at 16 – 14 with one end to play, only for the Heathfield skip to take out our second bowl to pick up a four on the final end, leaving the result at 16 – 18. Three very close results which unfortunately left the match result at 0 – 10 (48 shots to 56).
