110th Anniversary Celebration vs The Surrey Presidents’ Team

9.6.19 – This afternoon we welcomed The Surrey Presidents’ Team for a 4 rink match to commemorate 110 years of bowling at Wimbledon Park. The weather held fair for most of the game and after a very friendly first half we broke for refreshments. Thanks to Ange for making the cakes and to Anita and Fiona for making and serving the drinks. After 11 ends the scores stood at 10 – 5 to Mary, Luke, George and Ossie, 6 – 9 to Alison, Johnny, Anne and Pete, 11 – 8 to Matthew, Christine, Mike and Neil and 5 – 8 to Claire, Ange, Richard and Sabrina. The second half continued to be close with much conviviality and ended with Ossie’s rink winning 16 – 15, Pete’s rink losing 15 – 20, Neil’s rink winning 22 – 15 and Sabrina’s rink losing 11 – 15. Overall result 2 rink wins for each team but with The Surrey President’s Team taking the win by 65 shots to 64.

Following the match the celebrations continued with a lovely meal organised by Claire, with speeches by Club Captain, Neil, and County Presidents, Penny and Peter. A most match raffle raised £95 for Alzheimer’s Research. Thank you to Alison, Claire, Matthew, George and Sabrina for preparing the room on Saturday, to all our bowlers who played and to The Surrey Presidents’ Team for making it a wonderful way to celebrate our 110th Anniversary.
