3 out of 3 on the First Day of the District Finals

7.9.24 – The first day of the district finals saw Wimbledon Park contest the finals of the Champion of Champions, Mixed Pairs and Men’s Triples. First up was Neil who played Belmont in the Champion of Champions. After the first 10 ends, Neil had just managed to edge ahead 10 – 5. Belmont narrowed the gap to 9 – 13, before Neil picked up two 2s and a 4 to take the title 21 – 9.

In the Mixed Pairs, Jackie and Neil played Southey. After close early exchanges the scores were tied at 6 – 6 after 9 ends. In the second half WPBC picked up a 3 and a 4 which was enough to see them to the win 16 – 10.

In the Men’s Pairs, Richard F, Pete and Martin played Mitcham. After 6 ends the scores were locked at 4 – 4, before Wimbledon Park won the next 7 ends to open up a 17 – 4 lead. Although Mitcham won 4 of the last 5 ends, it was Wimbledon Park who took the title with an 18 – 10 win.
