Merton’s Big Sports Day

8.9.24 – Today the club was delighted to be involved in Merton’s Big Sports Day which ran from 10.00am – 4.00pm in Wimbledon Park. With a huge variety of sports available for people to try and with the weather set to rain most of the day, we really weren’t sure what to expect in terms of how many people might wish to have a try at bowls. Amazingly the poor weather did not materialise and the crowds kept coming. By the end of the day incredibly 103 people had had their details recorded and had been on the green to receive some coaching, with a few more getting on to the green without signing in.

Thank you to Barry, Richard F, Richard S and Sue F for giving up the whole day, along with another 13 club members who also gave up their time to support the Big Sports Day. Hopefully we will have wetted the appetite of many local residents so that we see some of them return in the future.
