3rd Weekend League Match

June 11th – This afternoon we welcomed Merton BC to Wimbledon Park for the third league match of the season. With a few of our regular players elsewhere it was great to have Christine and Claire making their 2017 league debuts. Claire, Ange, Anne and Barry had a close tussle in a game which saw the lead change 4 times in the opening 8 ends, before Merton pulled away to lead 16 – 8 after 15 ends. The final ends belonged to Wimbledon Park who narrowed the game to lose 16 – 17. Christine, Rosalind, Vernon and Pete had another close game with only a single shot between the teams after 13 ends as the score stood at 11 – 12. In the final 8 ends two counts of 3 and 4 to Merton proved decisive as WPBC went down 18 – 21. Mary, Betty, Hector and Martin found their opponents to be hard work, keeping the scores close until the 12th end at 9 – 13. The remaining ends went to Merton who pulled away to win 11 – 28. Match result 0 – 10 (45 shots to 66).
