A Busy Saturday… What’s New?

This morning’s taster session was once again a tremendous success with 15 bowlers taking to the green including 5 of the new bowlers who have joined Wimbledon Park in 2015. At the end of the session we welcomed our latest two club members, Claire and Matthew, who have enjoyed the weekly taster sessions so much that they have become the 12th and 13th new club members this year.

This afternoon we hosted our first bowls party of the year whilst we also travelled to Mitcham for our latest league game. With a number of our more regular players unavailable a tough challenge lay ahead, but we enjoy tough challenges! Alf, Betty, Ralph and Pete found themselves up against strong opposition and at 10 ends were 3 – 15 down. Although they edged the second half of the game it was sadly not enough and they lost 14 – 23. Mary, George (making his debut), Sabrina and Barry also had a tough time, 0 – 10 at 6 ends, became 9 – 27 at the end. Anne, Angela, Helen and Neil managed to win 13 of the 21 ends to win 25 – 16. Match result a loss 2 – 8 (48 shots to 66).
