Oh so close!

This evening Neil travelled to North Sheen to play in the Quarter-final of the Surrey Zone in the National Champion of Champions competition. Having got stuck in traffic and arriving 25 minutes late Neil was confronted with a quick green which took a while to settle to. After 6 ends he was 3 – 12 down, before rallying to lead 13 – 12. The next few ends were shared with the lead changing hands regularly until at 19 – 20 Neil had last bow; any backwards move on the jack would give him a full house of 4 shots. Unfortunately his last bowl missed the jack by a whisker and his opponent and regular Middleton Cup skip took the single he needed to win the game 21 – 19.
