Annual Ladies v Men for the ‘Memorial Cup’

12.8.18 – This afternoon saw the 2018 club match between the Ladies and the Men, playing for the ‘Memorial Cup.’ In a game where all players had two bowls, the ladies were able to field 8 players and the men 7. Dodging the showers the ladies took advantage of their extra player with Claire, Rosalind, Ange and Sabrina opening up a 9 – 1 lead against George, Pete and Barry before the men took the next 7 ends to lead 16 – 9. With the game finishing after 18 ends the men just clung on to win 18 – 17. In the other match, Steve, Richard (making his club debut), Ossie and Martin played Mary, Jo (making her club debut), Sara and Maggie. Unfortunately for the ladies, the men were in fine form, winning the game and with it retaining the Memorial Cup.
