Another Busy Saturday at Wimbledon Park!

This morning started with our third ‘Bowls 4 Fun’ session and once again it was good to see club members, returning visitors and new attendees on the green.

At noon Jonathan and Neil played Wandilea in the National Family Pairs for a place in the last 4 of the Surrey/Sussex zone. In a close fought match the scores were level at 21 – 21 after 18 ends. Despite their best efforts Jonathan and Neil dropped three singles on the final three ends to lose 21 – 24.

At 2.30pm Mary, Anne B, Vernon and Barry travelled to Morden for a friendly match. In a game played out over 18 ends, Wimbledon Park were three behind with two ends left to play, but a 2 and a 3 on the final end saw WPBC win 15 – 13.

At 4pm Neil played Shirley Park for a place in the Quarter-final of the Surrey 2 Woods Competition. Again the game was close throughout but Neil took the advantage leading from the 5th end through to the 20th when his opponent picked up a wonderful 2 shots to level the score. The final end went to Shirley Park and the match was lost 12- 13.
