Another Great Saturday at Wimbledon Park

This morning’s taster session set a new record as 20 people took to the green including 8 first-time visitors. The sun shone, the atmosphere was the usual friendly one and all attendees enjoyed themselves with a number of comments shared about how much fun had been had and how well they had been looked after. Thank you to all club members who supported the session, with special thanks to Barry for leading the session and to Luke for his support.

This afternoon’s league match saw us host Merton Manor. Once again we were unable to put out a full team which made the game difficult, but we can be proud of the way that we played, especially with three of our bowlers playing in their first season. Top honours went to Hector, Christine (making her league debut), Betty and Martin who won 20 – 17. Mary, Anne B and Neil battled hard as they played their four opponents, managing to win 13 of the 21 ends but narrowly losing 17 – 18. George, Rosalind, Sabrina and Gay came close to a win and would have done so but for some good conversions from the Merton Manor skip in the last few ends, eventually losing 14 – 25. Match result 2 – 8 (51 shots to 60).
