Mid-week Results

On a very wet Wednesday evening the semi-final; of the Aggregate Shield took place. The pairs, drawn on the night, saw Brian and Luke play Jonathan and Neil. With the green paddling in many parts, the game was played on a rather tricky rink 1 and it was Jonathan and Neil who managed to progress to next week’s final.

The last mid-week triples of the season saw us play Merton Park at home. In a fight to remain in Division 1 next year, this was a ‘must win’ fixture. Hector, Luke and Jonathan battled throughout and were never behind winning 19 – 12. Derek, Vernon and Barry found themselves up against determined opposition and were 0 – 8 after 3 ends, before taking the next 9 ends to lead 19 – 8. The last 6 ends however went to Merton Park but they were limited to 10 shots which saw WPBC take the points with a 19 – 18 win. Match result 8 – 0 (38 – 30). We will now have to wait and see if the result is enough to hold on to our place in Division 1…
