Close, oh so very close!

This evening Barry played South London in the quarter-final of the District Men’s Singles. In a close game the scores were even throughout the early stages, before Barry pulled away to lead 18 – 12. Back came the South London bowler, picking up two singles and a four to level at 18 – 18. Two ends later it was all over with Barry having taken a single but his opponent having taken a very tidy three to win 21 – 19. Thank you to Martin for marking and to Anne B, who stayed on after club night, for her support.

Over at Streatham Park, Rose (Magdalen Park) and Luke played the quarter-final of the District Mixed Pairs. Again a very tight game took place with the scores level at 10 – 10 after 10 ends. 7 ends later and Streatham Park had pulled away to lead 19- 14, however with the light fading fast Rose and Luke picked up the five shots they needed in the last four ends to force an extra end. With one bowl left, Rose and Luke held two shots, but in the darkness the Streatham Park skip drew the shot to take the game 21 – 20.
