District Semi-final Spots 7 and 8 Secured

This evening, at Wimbledon Park, Barry and Neil took on Pete and Martin in the quarter-final of the District Men’s Pairs. Tight opening ends set the format for what turned out to be a close game. There were two key ends, one where Martin found himself 6 down with only one bowl left and promptly came in for shot and a second on the 17th end with the scores locked at 11 – 11, when Pete and Martin picked up five shots. It proved to be the undoing for the defending champions as Pete and Martin went on to be deserved winners at 21 – 11.

Over at Wandilea Luke and Ralph (substituting for Jonathan) also played their Men’s Pairs quarter-final. Two counts of six shots were crucial as Luke and Ralph managed to get to the 21st end leading by two shots. The final end however saw the Wimbledon Park pair pick up a count of three to take the game 26 – 21. The semi-final will be an all Wimbledon Park affair as Luke and Jonathan will play Pete and Martin for a place in the final.
