District Pairs – Down to the Wire!

Barry/Neil began defending the Wimbledon and District Men’s Pairs title that they won in 2013 and in 2014 with a match against South London this evening. With their opponents playing tidily throughout and the opposition skip converting a number of ends, the home pair needed some big counts one of which came on the third end when they picked up a count of 7. By end 10, Barry/Neil led 15 – 10 only to see the lead reduced to a single shot by end 19 where they led 19 – 18. A single on the 20th end left their opponents needing two shots to tie and three to win with one end remaining. When the bowls had finished and the measuring had been concluded South London had taken a single to leave Barry/Neil 20 – 19 winners.
