Double District Success

On Tuesday evening, over at Mitcham, Caroline and Mark played the District Over-55 Mixed Pairs. After close early exchanges the scores were tied at 8 – 8 after 7 ends, before Mitcham rallied to lead 12 – 9 after 10 ends. A great finish, winning 6 of the remaining 8 ends was enough to see WPBC through to the ¼ – final with a 20 – 14 win. Back in Wimbledon Park,  Martin and Neil played Belmont in the District Men’s Pairs. Dropping a count of 6 on the third end was not the start that the home pair wanted, but perseverance and accurate drawing saw them chip away at the lead. With two ends remaining the score stood at 11 – 13, but a small trail on the jack was enough to give them a 4 on the 17th end and a final 3 saw WPBC through to the 1/4 – final with an 18 – 13 win.
