Hard Work on Saturday 18th July

This morning 11 people took to the green for the weekly taster session. With no brand new visitors it proved a useful time of coaching for some of our newer and regular attendees who received some support as well as enjoying playing with/against one another.

This afternoon saw the latest league match played away at Merton. With Wimbledon Park having many players unavailable the 10 players who travelled to Merton had a big task in attempting to get a positive result from the game. Amazingly Cherry, Helen and Martin, playing against a full team of four managed to win a highly creditable 12 of the 21 ends and with it the game by a single shot 20 to 19. George, playing in only his second game, Sabrina and Barry also faced a full team of four and managed to win 9 ends, however it was Merton who won the game 22 – 13. Alf, Betty, Gay and Vernon found the going tough, with their opponents winning 35 – 7. Match result, a creditable 2 points, (40 shots to 76).

Back at Wimbledon Park there was another bowls party enjoying the bowls and the good weather. Thanks to Barry for dashing back to help clear up after the bowls party.
