Oh What Could Have Been!

This afternoon Wimbledon Park visited Merton Park for the latest mid-week triples match. Betty, Vernon and Barry played a tight game with 8 of the opening 9 ends being won by single shots, leaving WPBC 7 – 3 ahead. Unfortunately dropping a 2 and a 5 in the next two ends brought Merton Park level. Winning four of the final five ends it was WPBC who won the game 15 – 11. Alf, Helen and Neil also had a close game opening up a 11 – 6 lead after 8 ends. Unfortunately dropping 8 shots over the next three ends saw their opponents take the lead, a lead which, try as they might, WPBC could not recover. Final score 15 – 24, match result 2 – 6 (30 shots to 45).
