League Match v Belmont

On Saturday afternoon we had our latest league match against Belmont.

For much of the week both teams only had 9 bowlers, but thankfully 12 Wimbledon Park members took to the green accompanied by 11 bowlers from Belmont.  In a close first half Caroline, Sue R, Vera and Martin found themselves 7 – 8 down, but then proceeded to outscore their opponents 13 – 4 in the second half, to win 20 – 12, despite winning 8 ends out of 18. Jackie, Bob, Richard F and Dave initially kept things close and after a slow start by both teams, found themselves 4 – 3 in front after 7 ends. Unfortunately their opponents scored 4 shots in each of the next two ends and pulled away to a 19 – 9 win. Sue F, Christine, Anne and Claire T found themselves up against three opponents and, despite losing the first two ends, forged ahead finding themselves 12 – 4 in front after 9 ends. They continued to boss the match and won 23 – 8. Match result 8 – 2 (52 shots to 39). Many thanks to Sue F (Captain of the Day), to Sue R, Christine and Richard F for making sure that we had a full team and to Richard F for setting up the green in the morning/afternoon and for his match report.
