This week

Congratulations to Pete who overcame a strong challenge from Luke to win the Open Singles competition on Monday by two sets to one. After winning the first set 10 – 2, Pete saw Luke bounce back to level the match with a 6 – 2 second set. The final set was again a close one with Pete taking the decider 8 – 2. On Wednesday evening the quarter-final of the club-night Aggregate Shield took place. Following the draw, Mary, Anne B, Barry and Derek lined up against Vernon, Neil, Jonathan and Brian. With players rotating positions every three ends, the evening developed with both teams closely matched. In fact there was only one shot between the teams as they came to the final end but it was Vernon, Neil, Jonathan and Brian who prevailed, picking up two shots to win 14 – 11. The semi-final will be drawn next Wednesday evening from the winning four. Saturday morning sees the resumption of our weekly taster sessions. Having linked up with Age UK Merton and their September of activities we are expecting a good turn out; please do support the session if you are available.
