Two Surrey Competitions Away at Croydon MOs

On Thursday evening, over at Croydon Municipal Officers’ BC we had two matches, the Surrey Champion of Champions and the Surrey Top 4. First to finish was Neil who was given a lesson by his opponent in the first half of the game, trailing 6 – 15 after 12 ends. Clawing his way back, Neil had reduced the deficit to 15 – 17 after 19 ends, before dropping an untidy three to trail 15 – 20. Taking one end at a time, Neil picked up counts of 2, 2 and 1, to tie the game at 20 – 20 and then with the lead changing again and again on the final end, it was Neil who took the single needed to advance to the Surrey ¼ finals with a 21 – 20 win. In the Surrey Top 4, Mark, Richard S, Dave and Martin played well from the start, opening up a 14 – 1 lead after 10 ends. Backing each other up, they continued to play well, limiting their opponents to shots on only 3 ends, before hands were shaken after 14 ends with the score at 17 – 4.
