What an Exciting End to the Merton Primary Schools Bowls Tournament

June 13th – today at Merton Park BC the 3rd annual Merton Primary Schools Bowls Finals took place between Joseph Hood, supported by Merton BC, Poplar ‘A’, supported by Merton Park BC, Poplar ‘B’, supported by Mitcham BC and Wimbledon Park, supported by Wimbledon Park BC. Fortunately the weather remained dry after an initial shower and the children had a fantastic time helped by the Sports Leaders from Rutlish School, assisted by the Merton Schools Sports Partnership. After the schools had each played three games the result could not have been closer, with Wimbledon Park Primary School finishing on 502 points, 1 point ahead of Joseph Hood Primary. Thanks to Barry, Cherry and Jonathan who supported the event (and to Barry’s wife, Vicki), as well as to the Surrey Ladies’ and Men’s Presidential Teams and the Mayor of Merton who presented the awards.
