Wimbledon Park’s 4th and 5th Places in the District Finals

28.8.19 – This evening we had two District Semi-Finals being played. Over at Streatham Park Sabrina played Wandilea in the Semi-Final of the Ladies’ Singles. Starting well, Sabrina led 6 – 2 after 6 ends, only for her opponent to respond well, leaving Sabrina 9 – 12 down after 14 ends. 5 ends later and the gap had grown to 12 – 17, before Sabrina picked up two counts of 3 to go ahead for the first time in 10 ends. The final 5 ends were taken alternately, with Sabrina booking her place in the Final with a 21 – 20 win.

Over at Belmont, Neil played Streatham Park in the Semi-Final of the Mixed Singles. Being outplayed early on Neil was 1 – 9 down after 7 ends, before rallying to level at 10 – 10, 5 ends later. After another 8 ends, Neil had pulled ahead to lead 18 – 13, going on to win a close encounter 21 – 18.
