4.9.21 Club Finals Day 1
Throughout the day 9 people took part in two Round-Robin groups in the Robert Faulds’ Competition. At the end of the group stage Sallie emerged as the Winner of Group A, ahead of Runner-Up Gail, closely followed by Alison and Claire W. In Group B, Ange was the Winner, with Rosalind as Runner-Up, closely followed by Anne, Mary and Jatin. In the Semi-Finals, played over 8 ends, Rosalind beat Sallie 8 – 7 and Gail beat Ange 8 – 5. A huge thank you to Claire for over-seeing the Robert Faulds’ competition!
In Session 1, Neil played Pete in the 4 Wood Points. Pete took an early lead and was 42 – 28 ahead after 7 ends. Neil then fought back to level the match at 55 – 55 after 11 ends, before Pete stepped up a gear to close out the match 78 – 62. In Session 2, the 2 Woods saw a comfortable win for Barry over Neil by 16 shots to 9. The 3rd Session saw Neil play Pete in the 3 Wood Yardstick Competition. After close early exchanges Neil led 13 – 10 after 7 ends. The middle part of the game saw Neil pull ahead to lead 28 – 18 after 13 ends, before a strong fight-back from Pete saw him close to within 3 points at the end. Final score, Neil 37 – Pete 34.
