12.9.21 Day 2 of the District Finals

Today’s opening session saw Claire, Anne, Martin and Neil play Wandilea in the Mixed Fours. Unfortunately for WPBC, Wandilea started the stronger leading after 6 ends by 10 – 2 and after 15 ends by 20 – 7. The final 6 ends however saw a change in fortunes with Wimbledon Park winning each end to tie the game at 20 – 20. The extra end was also a close one, but as the dust settled it was Wandilea who took a single and with it the match.

In Session 2, Neil played Heathfield in the Mixed Singles. In a closely fought match, Neil again found himself down 13 – 17, before a run of four ends saw him over the line 21 – 17.

In the final session Sara and Neil played Belmont in the Mixed Pairs. Leading from the start WPBC were 7 – 2 up after 5 ends and 12 – 2 up after 10 ends, before Belmont came back to narrow the lead to 16 – 12 after 17 ends. The last few ends went to Wimbledon Park who secured the win 21 – 13. Thank you to Ange, Barry, Matt, Richard F and Richard S for their support.
