3 more District Quarter-final Places Booked in Just One Day!

A great day for Wimbledon Park started this morning with Luke and Jonathan playing away at Magdalen Park in the District Men’s Pairs. The game didn’t start too well for Wimbledon Park, with the home team picking up a five on the fourth end to give them a 7 -1 lead. By end 12 however the tables had been turned and WPBC led 16 – 10. Not to be outdone, Magdalen Park battled back and the deficit was down to a single shot after the 17th end. The final few ends were evenly matched with Luke and Jonathan booking their quarter-final place with a 23- 22 win.

This evening there were three District matches taking place. First to finish was Barry who booked his quarter-final spot in the Men’s Singles with a 21- 14 win against Magdalen Park. Second off the green was Jonathan who had a very tight game against South London, unfortunately Jonathan’s opponent just edged the game winning 21 – 19. The final game to finish was the Men’s Pairs with Pete and Martin hosting Raynes Park. Starting well the score was 5 – 1 at 4 ends, but level at 6 – 6 three ends later. That was as close as it got however and Raynes Park called it a day after 17 ends with the score at 17 – 8. Pete and Martin became the 11th of Wimbledon Park’s District quarter-finalists and will play Barry and Neil for a place in the semi-final.

Unfortunately Helen and Betty had to concede their quarter-final in the Ladies’ Pairs.
